<<BACK TO THE TIMBERCRETE STORY
Be A Blessing - Peter & Judi's personal mission statement
I believe Timbercrete is a product that was inspired by God, at a time of desperate financial need and entrusted to me to become an instrument of blessing both for ourselves and for others.
In the early days we were offered millions of dollars for the patent rights by an Australian manufacturer. However because our life mission statement was to “be a blessing” we resisted the temptation to simply cash in on our intellectual property and to create a self-centred life of luxury. We felt that both the process of manufacturing, as well as the profit from selling the product, is something that could be of great blessing to others who needed a financial breakthrough, as we once did.
We felt that we could be a blessing in several ways:
- CUSTOMERS: Timbercrete customers, world-wide, will have access to an environmentally friendly, aesthetically attractive, energy efficient and competitively priced building material.
- FRANCHISEES: We have been approached by many others who also share our desire to be a blessing and not just accumulate wealth for themselves. These “generous people” have been (up to now) offered a franchise at minimal cost, compared to the large up-front fees usually associated with such transactions. With diligence and application our franchisees have the potential for a level of prosperity that may not otherwise have been available to them. For some it has been a literal life-line.
Almost all of the Timbercrete franchisees we have appointed to date have their own vision as to how they can help society. We expect that in time these visions will become realities via their Timbercrete businesses opportunity. Some of the projects on the hearts of individual franchisees include micro enterprise opportunities for indigenous Australians, orphanages in Thailand, schools in Vietnam, social aid projects in East Timor and other works in places like India, Zambia, Romania and China.
- THE THIRD WORLD - Meeting the 3rd world need by using some of the 1st world abundance:
Franchises have now been granted in the USA and NZ. As royalty income starts to flow from these rich countries, part of such royalties will be used to help start up micro enterprise opportunities in third world nations. We are in touch with some of leaders of social care and concern in India, who have a network of 1200 village churches and are involved in providing food, shelter and education to India's orphaned children and low class poor. Our vision is to equip as many of them as possible with small Timbercrete factories, thereby providing employment, hope and an end to the poverty cycle.
We now have a patent granted in India, South Africa, China and pending in many other Third World countries. We hope to see the “poor” selling blocks to the “rich”, with legal (patent) protection. This is called: “the Robin Hood policy”.
With 27 international patents for its various products, Timbercrete is in a position to offer an opportunity to the “poor” that the “rich” cannot easily steal or copy. We also would involve larger corporations who want to be involved in the vision to “be a blessing” in order to generate funds from first world nations to further the Timbercrete vision in Third World nations.
- LIMITED LICENSES: On various occasions, we have issued “limited licenses” (in consultation with the local franchisee) for specific projects, allowing non-profit organisations to manufacture their own Timbercrete blocks at very low prices. Some examples of this include a large assembly hall at a College in Brisbane, a house built by Habitat for Humanity in Cowra, NSW, and assisting the Aboriginal community in a micro enterprise in Western Australia.
Definition of success: “the ability to hear God's voice and obey”
