Cobblestone Series

Smooth SandstoneThe “Cobblestone Series” is the most popular of our range and is our unique signature block. Each block is individually hand crafted, with slight variations of curved faces and dimensions inherent to the hand-made process. This variation is intentional in order to create the unique cobblestone appearance with the charm and character of the old world. The mortar thickness will also reflect this variation, ranging from 10mm to 30mm.

Available in 3 Distinctive types:

  1. BLOCKS for single-leaf (single skin 200mm & 250mm thick) load bearing frame-free construction.
  2. BRICKS for traditional veneer (95mm,110mm & 120mm thick)
  3. FULL BRICK (DOUBLE BRICK) construction  (2 Walls at 95mm,110mm & 120mm thick) with a 50mm cavity.

Small Cobblestone Brick

This brick shares a similar appearance to its larger big brother (above) but all its dimensions are smaller. (95mm thick)

Available in:
VEENER  BRICKS  for traditional veneer and full brick construction.

Cobblestone Series

Mud Brick Series

Smooth SandstoneThe Mud Brick Series share the unique hand-crafted variations of the Cobblestone Series, with the appearance and physical dimensions of mud bricks. However unlike standard mud bricks, Timbercrete “mud bricks” are far more durable, will not erode under water spray, do not need to be bagged or rendered and have a much higher insulation value (R value), as well as having all the other Timbercrete benefits.

Mortar joints range from 10mm to 20mm.

Available in:
BLOCKS for single-leaf (single skin) for load bearing frame-free construction.

BudBrick

Smooth SandstoneSmooth Faced Sandstone Series

The Smooth Faced Sandstone Series is more uniform in shape and size. It has an appearance similar to that of smooth cut sand stone or Western Australian limestone. Like sandstone and limestone it often displays subtle or dramatic natural colour variations, or induced variations using colour oxides of your choice. The finished product has a more formal look than the cobblestone series.

These larger blocks have a 50mm wide internal cavity to maintain ease of construction. Unlike sandstone or limestone Timbercrete is far more cost effective per square metre, it is far lighter and easer to build with and offers a far superior insulation value.

Mortar joints range from 8mm to 10mm.

Available in:
2 sizes of BLOCKS for single-leaf (single skin) load bearing frame-free construction or BRICKS for traditional veneer and full brick construction.

Smooth Sandstone House

Smooth Faced Sandstone Series - Super Insulator

The Smooth Faced Sandstone block is also available in a “super insulator version”. This block is 250mm thick and has a 60mm thick (or more if requested) extruded styrene slab running through the centre, with Timbercrete on both sides as a laminate. The styrene slab has a tongue & groove at the perp ends.

Originally designed for the Canadian and North American climate, it is an ideal block for areas subjected to extreme weather conditions. As with all Timbercrete blocks and bricks this clever block is uniquely energy efficient, because unlike other Styrene / cement combinations the styrene runs down the centre. With no areas for thermal bridging, this means that the wall still enjoys all the benefits of thermal lag (thermal momentum), but with increased thermal resistance (R value).

Available in:
SINGLE LEAF (single skin) load bearing frame-free construction.

Beveled Limestone Series

Bevelled Limestone The Bevelled Limestone Series has the most accurate perimeter dimensions, with an attractive bevel framing and rugged textured face. As in all our range, the texture and colour diversity is almost limitless. This is our largest brick (up to 900mm) yet it is the same width as a standard clay brick (110mm). This means it can be easily used as an alternative replacement for a common clay brick.

With this beautiful brick your house will look anything but “common”. This is the ideal brick for those who desire a grand sandstone / limestone look but only have a “brick veneer budget”. Due to our unique corner brick your home will not seem to have a narrow veneer brick appearance, because the corner brick is 225mm wide.

Mortar joints range from 8mm to 10mm.

Available in:
VEENER BRICKS for traditional veneer and full brick construction.

Tri-Brik Series

The Tri-Brik is the brick of choice for bricklayers and builders. The lighter weight, unique dimensional proportions and size, makes building a breeze.

As a result of the method of manufacturing combined with the width / height being equal (90x90mm) this brick can be laid to show one of three different faces, lending itself to complete ease of construction.

Available in:
VENEER BRICKS for traditional veneer and full brick construction.

Custom BlocksDesign Your Own (custom made)

Due to the low cost of producing moulds and our air-drying curing process, Timbercrete can economically manufacture a brick or block to YOUR size, colour texture and shape specifications. This allows you to create something absolutely unique.

The only extra cost to the customer in choosing a non standard product is the cost of having your unique moulds made.

Cladding (for home & commercial renovations and extensions)

For older timber, fibro, cement block and brick veneer homes, Timbercrete now offers its product in a form which can be retrofitted at a realistic cost. Choose the style of brick you like from our series, and we will make it in an easy to renovate, veneer/cladding form.

Renovating an older home with Timbercrete greatly increases its value - far outweighing the cost of renovation.

COOLSTONE - Timbercrete Landscape Pavers

Timbercrete “COOLSTONE” pavers do not radiate as much infra-red heat as traditional bricks and pavers, consequently that they do not transfer as much heat into your home or underfoot on hot days. Our pavers will remain cooler than other pavers, even on the hottest summer’s day, hence the name “Coolstone”. Unlike mud bricks, they are also slip resistant.

Timbercrete Retainer Walls

New Fixing Panel Wall System

New Fixing Panel Wall SystemTimbercrete has now developed a revolutonary new panel system that is a drop-in replacement for brick veneer or weatherboard style construction.

The new fxing panel can come in a range of sizes but the standard size is:
900mm long X 325mm high X 60mm thick, weighing 50 to 60 kg m2 or (18kg each panel).
(A standard clay fred brick wall typically weighs 190 kg m2 at 110 mm thick)

Colour and texture possibilites are almost limitless - from a monolithic clean line look, to the appearance of a rugged faced limestone or dry stack diamond cut sandstone look (with all the colour variaton and texture that is typical of sandstone).

Each panel has a thin fexible mortar bed to create a watertght / airtght joint and a stepped shipped lap style profle top and botom. We recommend Sikafex control joint compound as a mortar to join the panels. By using a fexible compound for mortar each panel acts as a control joint. Sisalaton is sandwiched between the back of the panel and the face of the stud and is put in place before the panels are fixed.

New Fixing Panel Wall SystemNew Fixing Panel Wall System

The Achilles heel of all masonry structures is their rigidity and weight. This rigidity ofen manifests itself in cracking, especially when there is movement in the soil as a result of dishing and doming. Timbercrete has addressed this issue by ofering the frst ever fexible masonry wall system. The panels do not load-bear on the frame, but on the footngs, slab, or on a tmber face plate on bearer and piers for a suspended tmber foor.

Because the panels are lighter and all joints are fexible, the footng and foundatons should conform to the size and standard that is typical for a tmber frame and weatherboard style structure. The panels are atached to the tmber or steel stud frame with a purpose-built galvanised metal bracket that follows the contour of the panel’s top step. Each bracket is secured to the stud with a counter sunk self tapping screw.

The fexible lightweight nature of this system should make it an ideal choice for buildings in mine subsidence areas or those prone to earthquakes.

This simple to install wall panel system, will do away with the problems associated with bricklaying. It is signifcantly faster to erect and more cost-efectve to purchase per square metre.

Incremental Benchmarks

The key to successfully building Timbercrete walls is to work to incremental benchmarks.

That is, both the horizontal and vertical courses need to be laid out in increments of “one block plus one mortar joint”, as per the chart below. By strict observance of these increments, the finished wall aesthetics will be maximized, waste eliminated and cost minimised.
